It's a Russian car so he'd probably break his neck one way or another...

Ah, this brings back memories of one of my former car affairs (a dark red Buick Century). I also drove it until it practically fell apart. In its final days, it really was a Bitzimobile.

My gram's Baxtermobile was a red 1983 Mitsubishi Pajero (Montero to all you North American folks) with sport wheels that she bought back in '96. She sold in 2000 because it was so loud, noisy and uncomfortable. Was followed by a blue V20 Pajero 2-door (in which I often shat my diaper when I was allowed to play at the wheel on vacation in Denmark) and then the black Pajero Pinin she has today.

But the real Baxtermobile was my Aunt Birgit's ( https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birgit_Liss )VW Polo Variant. We acquired it for a few weeks in the early 2000s and then sold it to her and my uncle. By 2008, the car's condition was equal to the Baxtermobile: squeaky at every turn, rusty and totally saggy suspension. My uncle bought a Tiguan in 2009.
The car as it appeared in 2002:

It does look like Bitzi's car a bit, but I think this particular model lacks the back row of seats entirely... Hah, I just realised I know the place where this photo was taken. Very Happy

i see this car and think of how it has driven the starving men women and children of the Russian tundra to freedom from the clutches of hatred or if not that then at the least a fluffy snowstorm. i do not have a car myself and ride my bicycle still but have found work at Taco Bell and will soon drive a raging clunker.

I wish you luck in that endevour, good sir. Me, I have to walk for 50 kilometers in the raging flurries every day just to get to work and if I don't the KGB will think I'm cold and come and set my house on fire... But I don't blame those poor people - they're just trying to keep me warm the only way they know how.
