Arthur to return to German TV?

Post by ZeGermanArthurFan on Tue Aug 15, 2017 2:52 am

Seeing the years when Arthur aired here in Germany (2001-2002, 2007-08, 2012-13) I'd say it'll return this fall to German television...

It's all on sites like youwhotube anyway. I personally enjoy my high speed internet and massive 4k display to watch TV. Digital services are so IN right now.

The German dub is very hard to find - I lived in America for three years and speak fluent English, but I still want to see it.

There used to be a badly-recorded version of the dub of Arthur's Eyes available, but it got deleted and now all that remains of the German dub are the intro and one promo.
If they dub Seasons 16+, I wonder what accent they'll give Ladonna? Bavarian? Berlinish? Saxonian? Or my favorite...Hamburgish dialect? Very Happy

Maybe even Polish. Hearing Ladonna speak in any eastern European dialect would be a highlight of my day (she's the only character in the voice strictly defined by her accent, so hearing her most distinct audial trait being changed would be bizarre, to say the least).

The German dub being difficult to find is bizarre, particularly considering that other Arthur dubs are currently widespread on the internet (particularly the Spanish and Hebrew (the infamous dub with the Tom Waites Arthur, the Andy Serkis Buster and Arthur's little sister Geli) - considering the number of people worldwide who speak German as their mother tongue, I'm surprised the dub is not more ubiquitous currently.

Regarding Ladonna's accent, I have to wonder if they might adopt a regional dialect for that particular country that's considered unique and amusing to the general populace.

Sort of like the German version of the movie Airplane! (apparently called Die unglaubliche Reise in einem verr├╝ckten Flugzeug over there). The "Jive Guys" were changed from speaking AAVE with English subtitles to speaking a dialect of Bavarian/Bairische with German subtitles. The joke actually worked pretty well over there, considering how difficult to impossible it is to translate humor between languages.
