Oh? The resemblance is uncanny but after closer inspection, yes (Steve's) skin (fur) is pale white and Alex is more brown/tan

Re: Arthur the Asshole
And there's more...
Preying on the Weak: In Arthur Sells Out, our bespectacled antagonist hits rock bottom yet again. On consultation of Muffy (and it's been pointed out how very similar the two of them actually are), Arthur remorselessly scams the preschool-aged James into buying a broken action figure. Now, bear in mind that this isn't just any preschooler we're talking about. This is James, quite possibly the weakest and most defenseless character in the entire series. Even after Buster uncharacteristically loses his cool and chews Arthur out with one of the most amusing lines in the series, Arthur blankly tries to defend it with a very lawyerly caveat: It was only for display purposes. Hell, even Muffy saw that this was more problematic than Arthur did. It's only after she advises him that he could face criminal charges over it that Arthur "makes up" by buying James a new toy as a replacement. This is about as meaningful as any faux-remorseful apology you'd hear from a defendant at sentencing facing down the prospect of jail time. Arthur doesn't even say anything along the lines of an apology, nor does he seem remorseful in the slightest. He's just buying his way out of consequences for his own sake, and nobody else's.
Good thing big sister never found out, otherwise...

Re: Arthur the Asshole
Yeah I remember that episode. I was thinking "Why is Arthur talking to Muffy?" And "Poor James"
I wanted Buster to tell Molly so bad. So his apology yet again was as weak as cats urine...
Who scams a four year old?
This asshole:
He WHAT???? *storms to Arthur's*
*sees molly*
Oh I'm about to unleash a whole lotta rage on your ass
*Pissess his pants*

Let's just hope she scares enough piss out of him to put out that house fire.
Or not, I actually think we'd be a lot better off without him at this point.

By the looks of that man standing there watching the fire, I'd say his piss wasn't enough.

Re: Arthur the Asshole
Sociopath, Part II: Case in point - Arthur Bounces Back. Arthur sees an ad for a pair of moon boots, and decides that he absolutely must have them. After a few makeshift attempts at raising money the honest way (including a failed attempt at selling himself on a street corner), Arthur decides to steal a necklace that David had intended on giving Jane as a gift, then proceeds to sell it to Ms. Tibble for a big profit. Now, as if the theft and sale of stolen goods wasn't bad enough, it's not just any necklace we're talking about here. It was a very special gift, for a very special occasion, from his father to his mother. Could it possibly have had any greater sentimental value? To Arthur, however, all of this means nothing. Nor does it matter than he's stealing from his own parents. It's not until Arthur discovers that David noticed the necklace was missing that he decides to get it back and try to reverse what he did. But take note of the fact that he first tries to wait and see if David will forget about the necklace entirely, expressing disappointment when it's clear that won't be the case. Would Arthur have given a shit or felt a pang of remorse if he didn't know he'd probably get caught? Obviously not. As usual, the episode ends without him expressing any sort of regret or apology, only doing what he has to in order to avoid much greater consequences.

Please! He's usually a good friend but I am nothing like Arthur. I am frilly funny fancy finesse, peachy icing on a bundt cake.
Meanwhile Arthur is angry.
He's like Francine, if anything.

Well its lovely how u willingly throw your "Best friend" under the bus like that, jeez no wonder she sided with me. Arthur x Francine are still my favorite ever Arthur ship so maybe they are alike? In good ways

Re: Arthur the Asshole
it seems like Arthur's only shining moments was the Arthur Adventure adaptation episodes. After that Greg Bailey and Joe Fallon saw more of the Disney version of Doug and focus on the other characters.
Why have you betrayed us 90s kids for a show all about Arthur, Marc Brown? I think he just got an excuse from PBS executives that Arthur teaches children to read books and use the library and became a TV sellout overnight (well, more like either morning or afternoon or both morning and afternoon).

Re: Arthur the Asshole
Nice to know that our residential Advocate of the Great Charles K. Fallon still drops in occasionally.
Either way, Arthur is seriously messed up (am impressive feat considering who's writing this post), judging by the quantity of evidence gathered into this (three-page-long) thread. I honestly pin some of his more recent (as in seasons 9-present) jerkassery on the writers essentially throwing their arms up in the air as to how to characterize him ('Arthur Sells Out', thankfully added recently by Lotta, is among the earliest examples of this), although even the earlier seasons may feature him as irritable to the point of a behavioural disorder (after only three people mildly misunderstanding his new glasses in 'Arthur's Eyes', he's pretty much bracing to punch them, as the masterful screenshot above depicts).
