First Ken, Now Joe

Post by Snowth Poogle on Mon Nov 06, 2017 9:02 pm

Like Ken Scarborough last year, it would seem that Joe Fallon figured out how to get, how to get to Sesame Street, as he's now on their writing staff too. Really interesting how two of the more prolific writers of one of the biggest and most successful childrens educational series in television history are now writing for another one of the biggest and most successful childrens educational series in television history.

Could you imagine how cool it would be if worlds could somehow collide and we got some kind of a Sesame/Arthur crossover?

Holy cow, really? I have to wonder how his clever humor and subtlety will play out in Sesame Street, since it's geared to a somewhat younger audience...

Well, if they (almost) had this on the show, they can get away with a lot of brands of humor. Not to mention the show is on HBO now instead of PBS.

Joe Pesci appearing in any capacity, no matter how brief, is like slapping on a Parental Advisory label that never loses its sticky.

Keep in mind, SESAME STREET, like ARTHUR, wasn't always aimed at the really younger kids, it's just that they've done their job of educating kids while entertaining them over the decades that their audiences have gotten steadily younger, which means they've had to adjust the show's demographic toward the younger crowd . . . I mean, could we say that the first few seasons of ARTHUR would probably be aimed at the same age bracket as current seasons?

But as far as SESAME STREET goes, way back when, some of their writers were actual comedy writers . . . in fact, M*A*S*H writers Thad Mumford & Dan Wilcox not only wrote for the show, but they also wrote a lot of their memorable songs like "10 Commandments of Health."

Then again, LAUGH-IN writer Rowby Goren penned at least one early episode of ARTHUR: "Arthur Goes to Camp."
