Alternate Outfits

Post by A Lotta Moms on Sun Jun 22, 2014 1:19 pm

Having been inspired by Francine's absolutely smashing outfit in The Cherry Tree, I think it'll be fun to post some of our favorite (or least favorite) alternate outfits for the Arthur gang.  Here's a choker and a garden hose to kick things off:

I just can't get over how adorable she looks.  I love you

Smokin' there, Ferny!
I give this thread no more than 48 hours before it's dominated by Muffy.  queen

Fern would paste her head on an attractive body if she desperately wanted male attention.

I agree, I absolutely love how Muffy looks with loose pigtails.
Throw in some bangs, and it gives her a real girl-next-door look:

Buster sometimes dresses as if he's in the 1930s:

Francine's black dress from Dancing Fools - one of my all-time favorites.

Francine looks so stunning in that dress.

I have quite a few favorite outfits, so, just as a warning, this will be an awfully lengthy post.
Of all the characters' alternate outfits, (you guessed it) Buster's comprise the majority of my favorites. He is quite honestly the most fashionable male character, as he has the largest diversity of outfits.
Black, teal and blue look the best on him, imo.

<---I really, really like this one.  Very Happy
I like all three of his detective outfits too, the one General Mung Beans posted earlier in this thread, as well as these two.

Concerning hairstyles, these are my personal two favorites.

He looks icky in this hairstyle from an episode of PFB, though.

And, I have two favorite hats (hehe, the one on the right is so vibrant and quirky that I couldn't leave it out):

I have plenty more where that came from, but, I suppose you've seen quite enough of Buster. Let's move onto someone else!
Fern has some good outfits, too. Apart from her Wateau suit, I appreciate these as well:

Ferny in a dress. She looks better in pants, but she's adorable nonetheless.
She also rocks a pretty neat look in "Fernlets By Fern."

Here's another one I really like, along with George.

And we can't forget Muffy. Though I appreciate a lot of her outfits as well, these three are by far my favorites, along with the hairstyles that go with them. She looks very mature with an updo.

<---Muffy looks good in overalls. Maybe it's the braids, or something, but it really stands out to me, considering she doesn't wear them too often.
Going back to the male characters, I like this dance outfit Binky wears in "Dancing Fools."

Binky looks quite distinguished in suits as well. I'll also add that when he dons a mustache, it's quite funny, it fits him so well.
I've saved Arthur for last. The best for last!
Apart from his normal yellow sweater, he's worn many other outfits that look very nice on him; I like these especially:

That spiffy aardvark.
And I think Arthur would make a great ballerina, if "When Carl Met George" and the intro to "Through the Looking Glasses" are correct:

Doesn't he just look magnificent?

Muffy's skinny jeans/cargo jacket combo from Muffy Goes Metropolitan:

It's funny how throughout the episode she imagines herself wearing all kinds of lavish outfits, yet this ends up being her choice. I like it though.

Really loving that shot of Buster with his ears slicked over:

About Muffy, I know - that was really unexpected for her.  For once, even Muffy gets out-Muffed by none other than plain old Sue Ellen.  I'm seeing some symbolism in there with Muffy dressing down as a parallel for her being humbled in the episode and coming to appreciate more normal, non-materialistic things in life.
