Fraggle rock

Gobo/ Arthur i guess because he is the main protagonist of the show but Gobo is a bit more assertive other than that he fits arthur well

Red/Francine. Shes bossy, wants to be the best and is cute and funny like Francine.

Wembley/Buster he is a little scared but lovable and believes in everything he is told

Mookie/Fern and Sue ellen mixed together: She has the best of both characters. She is a dreamer who likes to help people and also writes and mothers people.

Boober/George. A little glum and scared but very enthusiastic about whatr he loves and in boobers case its laundry but george loves wally, guitar etc....

Deadpool

Buster - Wade Wilson/Deadpool
Binky - Colossus
D.W. - Negasonic Teenage Warhead
Arthur - Weasel
Molly - Vanessa
Marina - Al
Muffy - Francis/Ajax
Francine - Angel Dust
George - Cunningham

I could see Deadpool role being filled by a lot of the characters, actually. Francine, because of all the wisecracks Deadpool makes. Or Muffy, because Deadpool can be incredibly annoying at times, and this scene reminds me of one big Muffy Fail...

Hey, Roabe returns!  Good to see you back around after all this time. I hope the Rust Belt still fits. queen

I haven't actually seen Deadpool, but I can hear Buster's voice actor in him right off the bat.  I could picture him attempting to pull something like this after his fuse finally blows, only being something less than a fighter, well...flop.  The end monologue does ring of Muffy, just with how she's come off during some of her "informative" little speeches in which she conveys the wealth of real world experience she doesn't exactly have.

Also liking the Top Gun casting, which fits a certain famous interpretation of the movie pretty seamlessly.  Just ask Tarantino:

Thanks for the welcome-back.  Very Happy  I've been around actually, just not had the energy to post much.

The end monologue is cut off when the video ends, but here's the full quote: "When life ends up breathtakingly fucked, you can generally trace it back to one big, bad decision, the one that sent you down the road to Shittsburgh."

I highly recommend Deadpool. Not the greatest movie and it does have its flaws, but it's definitely entertaining and one of the more accurate and faithful movie depictions of any comic book character.

Understandable, I really haven't had much energy over the past month to post as much as I normally do, partially due to work, and partially due to scarcity of new episodes and material to discuss. Nonetheless, the Slums marches on, and it seems like we're experiencing a bit of an upswing as of late.

Thanks for the recommendation, too - based on the clip, it seems like a more entertaining variant of the usually over-serious and cliched superhero blockbuster fare.

Re: Casting Arthur Characters...

Reviving this thread with a more obscure movie, but I think some of the character dynamics fit almost perfectly...

The Day of the Locust (1975), based on the 1939 novel of the same title.

Buster - Tod Hackett. Aspiring artist who wants to make it big in movie production
George - Homer Simpson. (Yes, there was a Homer Simpson before there was The Simpsons.) Meek, shy, repressed, with a quiet volcano of rage building beneath.
Muffy = Faye Greener. Shallow, manipulative, yet at the same time you can't help but feel sorry for her.
D.W. = Adore. Mostly because Adore was boy masquerading as a girl, much like how D.W. has always been voiced by male actors. Also, like D.W., an annoying little shit.
Mr. Crosswire = Harry Greener. Struggling former vaudeville actor turned snake-oil salesman.

Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised that someone else around here is not only familiar with this quiet little nightmare, but appreciates it enough to give it a very solid Arthur casting.  These roles are pretty spot-on.  Notice Faye/Muffy at the used car lot at 0:45...almost seems like it was meant to be.  I can just picture the horrible climax, too...

I might also consider Arthur as a solid contender for Tod Hackett, mainly because he has that uptight, straight-laced aura about him, and tends to act as more of a passive observer/point-of-entry a lot of the time.  Just like the supporting cast really being what makes Arthur so great, it was ultimately Faye and Homer who made this movie such an understated classic.

Re: Casting Arthur Characters...

I caught this movie accidentally at a young age. I'd stay up late at night and flip around the movie channels, and came across this. I started watching
Spoiler:
right at the part when Homer stomps little Adore to death before he himself gets killed by the angry mob. Just seeing blood pouring out of the kid's face accompanied by the sound of bones crunching, followed shortly by the mob literally tearing Homer apart turning him into a bloody mess
kinda warped my fragile 11ish-year-old mind, and I'd already seen horror movies like Nightmare on Elmstreet* and Halloween by that time. This one for whatever reason left an impression.

*ironically Jackie Earle Haley, who played Adore, also played Freddy in the remake.

Nice job spotting Faye in the used car lot. I'd never even made that connection.

Arthur would have been a good choice as Tod too (both of them being the main characters and all). I went with Buster because he has a bit of an interest in film production just as Tod does, and in spite of Buster's goofy personality there are times when comes off as the level-headed one when the rest of the group goes off the deep end.

Re: Casting Arthur Characters...

Post by A Lotta Moms on Thu Sep 22, 2016 6:40 pm

I agree that it really was much more unsettling than the typical horror flick that goes out of its way to scare the audience from start to finish, because you come to expect it in those cases.  Day of the Locust, by contrast, comes at you from out of nowhere after nearly two hours of being a seemingly quiet (but increasingly unsettling) historical drama.  Even when taken by themselves, I think that extreme scenes like that are also a lot more effective when they take place in a non-supernatural sort of setting like this.  It makes it seem so much closer to home.

Equally jarring was when...
Spoiler:
...things continued to descend into madness after all of the carnage as reality dissolved into a figurative Hell full of flames, screams and featureless non-people.  It's actually funny with the whole Buster/Drugs Bunny connection, because I can completely picture Buster as Tod in that scene now, laying there on a bad acid trip and screaming as everyone around him starts morphing into aliens.

Yup, Undertale is such a pretty fudging good computer video game, Kerry Chan. If an freaking B33ber hates the ship Alphyne (Undyne X Alphys) which he had said: "I hate this ship cux they are both girls!!!" Then ya are gonna beat the crap of that B33ber for this.

Being a longtime fan of old school RPG's, I've actually wanted to try this one out for quite a while.  It's especially impressive when a solo designer can pull off a highly-regarded project like that.

And yeah, good thing to keep up the b33berwatch.  There'll be none of that nonsense around these parts if I can help it.
