The Amtrak thread

Carl can't mention this railroad on Arthur, so go nuts about the rides, stations, locomotives, advertising, you name it.

While this is more of a general railroad-related post...

Though I'm not much of a train enthusiast, I do have many fond memories from my middle-to-late teenage years of going on long nightly walks alongside the railroad tracks during my time in Michigan.  Occasionally, I'd go out "walking the tracks" with a few friends from high school just to see where they led.  Usually, we'd find ourselves in a different town, at a previously-undiscovered train yard, or approaching the dangerous borders of inner-city Detroit.

However, my most memorable walks took place when I'd go out alone and follow the tracks through fairly wooded suburban or industrial areas.  Since this was during a transitional phase in my life, there was something relaxing about being able to just follow a pre-set path like that as I pondered the future, enjoyed the crisp Northern air, or just let my mind wander.
