He is. David has a lot to contend with.
His wife is on the prowl
He has a terrible middle child and his eldest son can be quite the arrogant douche.
I'd take Baby Kate and flee for CA but hey, David has to keep some form of stability in the home

Isn't that that band Arthur tried to form in response to Francine, Binky, Molly, Mrs. MacGrady and I forming U Stink? I never heard them myself. Were they really THAT bad?

Unfortunately they were, although they still made a valiant effort.

Which actually brings up an interesting point: Fern, do you ever watch your own leading roles in episodes? How does it feel to have achieved those roles? I've noticed Muffy (understandably for her) referencing it a few times during her visits here, but never yourself.

And most important, how do you and Muffy feel about having been eight years old for 21 years? It's a bizarre question, but the aging process of the show's cast is bizarre to the point where I have to wonder how the cast themselves must perceive it.

I never really enjoy watching myself, but then again I figure very few people do. For example, seeing myself singing on stage at that huge concert... I wanted to crawl into a corner and hide forever. I sounded so awful during those first few lines. I'm so glad the Backstreet Boys came out and saved me from embarrassing myself even more. Crying or Very sad

As for the second question... it's been so long. I wouldn't mind turning 9 already, to say the least.

Well, actually... Well... Gimmie a sec... Alright, can't find a single writer who published their first book before they were 12, so yeah - you've got a point there. Neutral

Fern's resume is actually pretty impressive though if you consider that several of the stories she has written have been released to the public professionally through Arthur, so that's not actually too bad a deal for her. I'm sure her story in 'Ferkenstein's Monster' would easily be picked up in the right hands.

Although being a perpetual 8-year-old would certainly be a challenging hurdle to overcome in that regard.

Well, I've been in contests a couple times and all, and been in the newspaper, but that's hardly close to getting your own book published. Maybe someday, though...

Come to think about it... Do adults in Elmore City also never age or are the kids are the only ones afflicted with the strange curse of eternal youth? If so, does this mean that all the caretakers will eventually die out and the children will have to band together to survive in an environment eerily reminiscent of Golding's "Lord of the Flies"? If Season 22 is the bunneh rebellion, this has to be Season 23. What a pair of seasons that'll be!
The characters do 'age' in the show, actually, albeit only in minor ways. For example, Kate ages slightly in 'Paradise Lost' (as much of an atrocity as that episode was, at least it has that going for it) and Grandpa Dave implicitly ages from 'Grandpa Dave's Old Country Farm' to 'The Big Dig' and finally 'Grandpa Dave's Memory Album'. Not sure about D.W turning five twice, though. You ever wondered about that, Fern?

Oh gosh, I would hope not! I remember reading that book a while ago... That wouldn't be a fun time. I'd probably be one of the first ones to get killed in a more desperate situation. Shocked

I can't say, I rarely ever see Arthur's sister, and I'm grateful for that.

That is understandable, although I still have to wonder why Arthur himself never questioned his sister having the same birthday twice. Is everyone in Arthur simply lodged into a Groundhog Day-style loop which repeats over every fifteen seasons or so? That would explain Ladonna's introduction in season 16 in addition to the whole D.W birthday controversy and the cast remaining in the third grade despite 'The Last Day' noting otherwise on this.

I've never paid much attention, really. All I know is that I've been 8 for such a long time, and I haven't heard much of anything about the Backstreet Boys in forever. It's too bad, I like them.

It's actually not outside the realm of possibility for the Backstreet Boys to make a comeback at some point in the near future. You never know with popular bands...

I suppose the indefinite time period of the show also means that Mr. Ratburn will never retire, which is sort of tragic, provided that he is deprived of cake on a regular basis additionally.

Oh yeah! I always forget you have connections to them. That WOULD be great! I'll start brainstorming lyrics for new songs! I haven't sung much in a while, though. I hope I still sound alright.

Back on topic, I believe that Mr. Ratburn's dietary loyalties may not lie merely towards cake, but...
