This is my only response:

Scare Factor: Nightmare. That has got to be the scariest edit of an Arthur Artwork I have ever seen!

I remember encountering this little mastershop a while back.  Simple series of edits, but deceptively effective.  I notice that Brain seems to make the most convincing human, but I really don't see the point of all the effort.  After combing through the by-laws, I found absolutely nothing barring bears (whether brown, black or even polar) from award eligibility:

Now that's actually not half bad, in fact, it's pretty good. Arthur almost looks like a thinner version of when I was a kid. Shocked

I also like how soft-looking and feminine Muffy and D.W.'s faces look, but then Francine's face as a stronger and more characterized look to it, and the unkempt hair really contrasts her tomboyish nature from Muffy and D.W. being far more girly.

I remember seeing something on dA a long time ago where the characters were drawn in a far less stylized and more furry anthro style that was interesting to say the least... I should probably try to find it.

I like a lot of their facial expressions, perhaps Francine and Fern's the best.

Oooohh... I like this one. The faces in this picture make it so much more like a cartoon.

I especially like Muffy in the second shot. They really captured her essence perfectly.

I heard somewhere that there were real people who these characters were patterned after, from the author's life. Didn't his sister tour and say she was the real DW a while ago?

Yes, and Sue Ellen was based on a childhood crush of his, especially when it comes to the book ARTHUR'S VALENTINE.

This is an excellent idea for a new topic. Idea
We could get a list going of real-life Arthur counterparts, based on any legitimate, verifiable information from interviews, conferences, etc.  I recall reading that Francine is based on Marc Brown's older sister, Bonnie, while D.W. is based on his younger sister, Kim.  I believe he has public pictures of both of them on his Facebook page somewhere in the image archive.  I also recall something else about Buster and Muffy being based on actual people he knew, as well.
