Season 19

Post by 磁計算機騎士 on Fri Apr 17, 2015 5:03 am

That's right. Season 18 isn't even done yet and there's already stuff about season 19. Well, not much stuff but there is something...

KET has added 10 placeholders for season 19 onto their episode list. There are no titles or summaries up yet, but we can probably expect those to be added soon enough now that there are placeholders at all.

We've known about Season 19 for nearly a year now, considering one of the big reveals/announcements was that Maria was being given her own episode, and all about why she's never talked in all these years. Razz

So, yeah, considering we're well aware that they produce/animate seasons so far in advance, I'm sure we'll be learning details of Season 20 in the months to come.

Alright, putting aside Isamael's silly doubt, I'm really curious about the Season 19 episode, "Carl's Concerto". Since it will have Rattles and Carl in them, I would expect this to be another episode focusing on autism, hoping to show viewers how to handle bullying among autistic children.

Interestingly, while KET is rolling out #1809 (June 1 and 4), #1905 (June 2 and 5), and #1908 (June 3), the upcoming schedules from KLRU indicate the following episodes:
#901 (June 1)
#902 (June 2)
#1501 (June 3)
#903 (June 4)
#905 (June 5)

Of course each station has its own scheduling abilities, but clearly both KET and KLRU usually stick to the national PBS episode schedule. KET's makes sense since the previous Season 18 episodes are aired the week prior. Meanwhile, KLRU's schedule also makes sense, continuing to air season 15 and season 9 in the weird random split season pattern during that first week in June.

Also... (sorry to follow-up so quickly)... but Idaho Public Television has pretty reliable long-term schedules as well, and they have the following listings:
[missing] (June 1 and 4)
#1905 (June 2 and 5)
#1908 (June 3)

Not sure if this was already mentioned in another thread, but this comment looks to verify that there will be new episodes next month!

It's really confusing, because so far the schedules for June are citing two random episodes from Season 18 will air, then random episodes from Season 19 will air also the first week of June.

Well, KET already updated the episode list, and it seems that Luigi was right. It looks like a last season.

I'm interested in 9a. Will Nigel finally come out of the closet?

EDIT: Can we get confirmation from Greg or Tolon?

He told me the same thing, and additionally, an assistant producer with WGBH told me their next writers meeting will be in June/July, so as Greg said, it's all a big waiting game right now.

It seems to me that with one season shy of a milestone that ending it at 19 would be an odd move; I like to think that they would at least carry on till Season 20 before they even consider canceling the show - that's just my thinking.

-Dueling Detectives sounds like a Fern/Buster episode, like a repeat of their plot in Binky Rules.

-Remember how everyone, at least on Facebook, wanted Arthur to finally have an episode on same-sex marriage/an LBGT character? Mr. Ratburn's Secret Identity might finally be that episode. Especially considering the placement/scheduling of it before the last episode.

-Although it doesn't necessarily have to be a series finale, I have a hunch that The Last Day might be the episode where the gang move on to 4th grade. Possibly making Season 20, if it does air, a "special season" of sorts.

-From the titles only, it looks like there are no DW episodes this season at all.

That was more wishful thinking than anything else. I don't think that PBS/WGBH would dare to do something like that after the whole "Sugartime!" fiasco.

Or maybe Cusi and Peter wrote it. We'll see...

EDIT:
Magnezonomon wrote:Notice, however, that the title is "Mr. Ratburn's Secret Identity". The inclusion of that last word makes me think of something like "Arthur and the Real Mr. Ratburn" or "The Rat Who Came to Dinner" where we learn that teachers are just normal people when they aren't at school. Perhaps we will see a return of puppets, or some other unknown hobby. Maybe it will be about Internet identity now that he has his new computer.

Maybe he'll finally learn how to use the Internet.

Re: Season 19

Considering that this show, like a lot of them, is constantly being monitored by Moral Guardians, I highly doubt we're going to get an episode about Ratburn coming out of the closet - if he's even already in the closet to begin with. The uber-conservative Far Right fanatics will have the show boycotted as soon as they even get wind of such an episode reaches them. That's one of the reasons why PBS (or at least mine anyway) stopped having pledge drives in the afternoon in spring and summer, because they lost a lot of funding from these fanatical groups that say it's wrong to "brainwash" our kids into thinking it's okay to accept and be tolerant towards gay people (and I unfortunately live in a Red State, so yeah), so funding dropped significantly. Of course, that was ten years ago, and even though the general public was a little more open-minded then than they were before that, the general public is even more open-minded since then.

Still, I highly doubt there's going to be an episode discussing Ratburn being gay. If anything, I can almost see this episode being like that episode of RECESS where T.J. and the gang find that Miss Grotke is acting mysterious lately, so they start snooping and discover that she's been moonlighting as an amateur magician after school, so maybe that's what Ratburn's Secret Identity is all about, maybe he's moonlighting something and the gang finds out about it.
